Chinese BBQ spare ribs with hoisin

These ribs are sweet, juicy and tender. Try to marinate for 12-24 hours before cooking to get the best flavour.

Prep: 15 mins
Cook: 1h 30m
Serves: 4
    • 500g ribs, cut into single ribs
    • 190ml Blue Dragon Rich Hoisin Sauce
    • 50ml water
    • 50g tomato passata
    • 50g rice wine or dry sherry
    • 50g honey
    • 50ml Blue Dragon Light Soy Sauce
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    1. Using a large freezer bag as your container, mix together the marinade ingredients (except the water!).
    2. Add the ribs to the marinade and mix well, using your hands to rub the marinade into the meat.
    3. Seal the bag well and pop it in the fridge, leaving to marinate overnight if possible.
    4. Preheat the oven to 180C. Place the ribs (with sauce) into a large baking dish (with a lid if possible) and add 1.5 cup of water, mixing well.
    5. If you don't have a lid, cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for approx. 1.5 hours.
    6. If you can easily pull the meat away from the bones, then they're ready.
    7. Serve with boiled rice or noodles.
